UK’s Best 8ft Trampolines For 2020 – Review & Comparison

With summer soon approaching you may be looking for an 8ft trampoline for kids to keep them entertained in the garden. Trampolines are a great way to encourage children and kids to enjoy the outdoors and play in a safe environment so long as trampoline safety rules are followed.

You may be considering an 8ft trampoline as the size is suitable for small to medium gardens but also won’t look out of place in larger gardens. Just make sure that you have measured the area you want to put the trampoline in so you know that you have enough space.

An 8ft trampoline ticks most checklists for trampoline buyers who are looking for a smaller, safe, child-friendly trampoline that won’t break the bank. Infact the 8ft trampoline size is the most popular sized trampoline available in the UK.

The 8ft trampoline with enclosure is recommended for kids aged 4 years old up to 12 years old and usually supports up to 75KG’s (just under 12 stone) maximum weight limit comfortably. With the weight capacity so high even a 16-year-old could be supported. But that may mean they do not have a lot of bouncing space.

There are some things you need to consider so we’ve included an FAQ at the end of this post to help you decide if choosing this size trampoline is the right choice.

The Zero Gravity Ultima 8ft High Spec Trampoline is one of the most popular trampolines available today and it’s not hard to see why.

It is suitable for between 4 years old – 12 years old. It can hold a maximum weight of 11 stone 11lbs.

The trampoline comes with an inner safety enclosure, an ease of access trampoline ladder and is colourful in it’s design with yellow trim and thick blue safety padding.

It’s unique in that it has a patented weldless steel frame that adds twice as much strength to the frame than traditionally welded steel frames.

What this means is that it can provide up to 2.5 million cycles or ‘bounces’ over a lifetime compared to the traditional frame which usually guarantees 1 million cycles maximum over the lifetime of a trampoline.

So you can see why this 8ft trampoline is an extremely popular choice for your garden trampoline.

Tested to EN-71 standards which means that it meets or passes the needed saftey level to be sold within the United Kingdom.

The Jumpeeze 8ft trampoline is ideal for lighter jumpers.

The trampoline is described as a standard style trampoline due to the outer trampoline enclosure. While this setup doesn’t offer as much protection as an inner enclosure that eliminates the chance of access to the springs during use.

An outer enclosure does give more freedom during the bounce but with every trampoline we advise you supervise children when the trampoline is being used.

It is suitable for children aged 4 years old – 8 years old and can support a maximum weight of 11 stone. This trampoline sits 50cm off the ground and only has a 1.2mm steel frame – the smaller thickness frame they stock. So it’s more suitable for younger children from 4-8 years for these reasons.

Our Round Up

After spending a lot of time researching and building trampolines it’s become second nature for me to find the positives and negatives of each 8ft trampoline on this list. The WhatKids favourite picks are definetely the Zero Gravity Ultima 4 and the Kanga Garden Trampoline.

Unfortunately, the lack of availability in the last couple of months means that the Kanga is hard to buy, it seems to sell out within hours of it being in stock but the Zero gravity Ultima 4 has great availability and is very well receieved by the majority of customers. For this reason the 8ft Zero Gravity Trampoline is our best choice.

UK’s 7 Best 8ft Trampolines Reviewed & Compared

The WhatKids team decided to take a look at the most popular and most recommended 8ft trampolines available in the UK. This initial selection of 15 trampolines is further narrowed down to 7 of the best for the final list creation.

Edit 20/07/2020 – We updated our list of 5 to 7 reviewed and compared trampolines for this size.

So how do we select these trampolines? If you have visited the WhatKids website before then you will know that I am a massive trampoline geek. We like to be informed and selecting what the best 8ft trampolines are is an opportunity to review what’s available in the UK and how they stack up to each other.

Our Trampoline Review Selection Process

The selection process we often use is applied to the 8ft trampoline selection list. The things we look into for each trampoline are as follows:

Weight Limit

For an 8ft trampoline the weight limit capacity should be between 50KG’s and 75KG’s. This is between 7 Stone 7lbs to 11 Stone 8lbs. Anything above is 75KG is marketing hype.

While an 8ft trampoline can often hold 100KG or more it won’t provide a decent bounce if loaded at that weight

Recommended Age

Most trampoline manufacturers list an 8ft trampoline being suitable for the ages of 3+ years. However a child may not experience much of a bounce due to their weight at that age.

We recommend that children be from ages 4-12 years to properly benefit from this size of trampoline.

Cost

Purchasing can be quite a daunting task, especially in the first half of 2020. With lockdown happening in the UK there has without a doubt been a rise in trampoline prices.

Expect to pay between £120-£160 for an 8ft. You may be able to find some great trampoline deals starting from £100.

Features

When doing your search you should be on the lookout for certain features. A trampoline enclosure must be included when buying a trampoline in the UK.

A trampoline ladder, tension spring tool and an enclosure lock are some added features that offer great value when they are included.

Safety

The standard safety certification for outdoor or garden trampolines in the UK must meet certain criteria. This criteria is measured in a certification called the EN-71. The EN-71 part 14 relates to the sale of trampolines within the European Union.

To recieve this certification, trampolines must be tested and meet certain specifications setout in the EN-71.

Assembly & Build Quality

How long the trampoline takes to setup and assemble along with how many people are required when building an 8 foot trampoline is listed for each product.

Along with the build quality, thickness of the steel frame, the number of springs and the padding thickness are all taken into account when reviewing each trampoline.

Cheapest 8ft Trampoline With Enclosure

Looking to buy a cheap 8ft Trampoline With Enclosure? we’ve reviewed the cheapest 8ft trampolines available.

Two of the best and cheapest 8ft trampolines available are the Zero Gravity Ultima 4, and the Kanga 8ft Premium Trampoline. Both Feature an inner trampoline enclosure and tested to the toy safety EN-71 European Standard regulations making them one of the safest and cheapest 8ft trampolines.

What Should you Consider?

When looking for a new trampoline especially if you’re on the hunt for a cheap 8ft trampoline is to measure all the features against my list of must-haves.

  • The trampoline must have a safety certificate and pass the EN-71 or equal testing requirements.
  • It must be suitable for the age of the children who are going to be using it.
  • It must support the weight of the kids who are going to be enjoying the trampoline.
  • It needs to be affordable, you should be looking to spend between £90 and £120 for the cheapest 8ft trampoline.
  • Check what accessories that the model comes with – Does it have a ladder included? For example.
  • Is the padding thick enough around the trampoline – it should be between 14mm and 20mm thickness.
  • Does the cheapest trampoline have an inner enclosure included in the design of the trampoline for safety-conscious parents?

Both the trampolines I have listed meet all the requirements I’ve set out. It will be up to you to decide whether the trampoline is suitable and to make sure that the weight capacity of the chosen trampoline is not exceeded.

An 8ft trampoline is approximately 243 cm, 2.43 m or 8ft in diameter. That’s including the trampoline enclosure. An 8ft Trampoline is suitable for children 5 years old to 10 years old. Adult supervision is always recommended.

When choosing a trampoline you need to consider whether or not the trampoline fit nicely into your garden and provide the fun environment that you expect. I want you to have a great time using a trampoline so let’s have a look at what exactly you need to know.

What You Need To Consider

This is our guide to solve the question you have of is an 8ft trampoline big enough.

  • How much space do you have for the trampoline?
  • How much space do you need?
  • Who and what age are the children who are going to be using the trampoline?
  • Where to put a trampoline?
  • What kind of surface can you put a trampoline on?

How Much Space Do You Have

The first thing you need to consider is the space that you have to place the trampoline when deciding if an 8ft trampoline is big enough, you need to measure the area in which you want to place the trampoline. What you will want to do is take a look at the various areas of your garden where you feel like a trampoline would be suitable.

Ensure that there are no obstacles that could cause injuries, collisions or increase the health risks. These types of obstacles could be a tree nearby your chosen area, a road or busy pathway that is within 2 meters of the picked area or a wall or fence that could cause injuries if it’s placed to close to your desired trampoline area.

Get the tape measure out and go around your desired area. How large is this area and what are the distances between your area and the trampoline.

How Much Space Do You Need

An 8ft trampoline is approximately 243 cm, 2.43 m or 8ft in diameter. That’s including the trampoline enclosure that now legally has to be included. So you are not only looking for space for an 8 foot trampoline but also the enclosure.

What this means is that you are not only looking for horizontal space but also vertical space for the enclosure net and bounce clearance when deciding if an 8ft trampoline is big enough.

For this sized trampoline with enclosure, you will be looking to make sure that you have at least 3 m, 10ft in diameter space and at least 3 m height clearance.

This is why it’s so important to make sure that there are no obstacles that could cause injuries. Whether it’s an overhanging tree or a nearby fence that if the worse was to happen – a tear in the enclosure net, your child is not going to impact any nearby hazards.

What Age Is An 8ft Trampoline Suitable

The area you need and the area you have for the trampoline have been ticked off the checklist. Next, we ask the question of who is going to be using the trampoline and what age are the kids who intend to use it.

It’s important because trampolines come with certain restrictions and recommendations for use. This sized trampoline is quite small and is ideally suitable for the ages of 5 years old to 12 years old.

Weight restrictions vary by trampoline manufacturer. Some 8ft trampolines can support 50 KG (7 Stone) and other more premium trampolines although that limit to be increased to up to 100 KG (15 Stone) so as you can see there’s a massive variance when deciding what size to choose.

So if you have two children who are aged between 5 and 12 years old then the intended use is a fantastic fit for purpose. If however, you are looking for a garden trampoline for children between the ages of 5 years old and 14 years old I would consider purchasing a larger trampoline if the desired trampoline area allows it.

    • Hi Darren,

They haven’t been released today from what I can tell, so far anyway. Sometimes this happens. They have released daily Monday – Friday last week. If we see that there available I’ll fire you an email to update you.
We aren’t always right as we don’t make the decisions when stock is released we just inform people the best we can. Hope this helps.
